1. Deck the halls of your website/blog

Add seasonal graphics to decorate your website or blog.  

Tip: If you run a WordPress blog, you can add a feature which mimics snow falling. Simply go to your dashboard, click on Settings – General, and then check the box next to “Show falling snow on this blog. If you have a self-hosted WordPress site you can add one of the many snowfall plugins.

2. Make your Twitter profile more Christmassy

Add a Santa hat to your avatar with a twibbon.

3. Christmastify your Facebook page

Images are one of the best ways to create a holiday feel.  Update your cover photo with something festive.

4. Create holiday-themed content

This is a great time to create content which you can update and use again each holiday season. Always keep your content useful and relevant for your audience. The Evidently Advent blog series by Evidently Cochrane is a super example of a creative way to manage this. 

Tip: supplement your content creation with some Christmas-themed content curation.

5. Show your support for a worthy cause

Get behind a worthy cause this Christmas and encourage your readers and followers to do the same.  

6. Host a supportive Twitter chat

Many people struggle at this time of the year with loneliness, illness, depression, or grief. Support your community by running a Twitter chat which addresses these issues and offer suggestions to cope. The #bereavedatxmas hashtag is a good example of extending support to the bereaved at Christmastime.

Contests are a fun way to engage your audience; you could offer a coupon or a product giveaway – whatever is most appropriate to your business. Run your contest on Facebook (be mindful of Facebook competition rules) or use hashtags on Twitter and Instagram to engage your audience.

Offer a discount on a product or service you supply which would make a great Christmas gift. 

9. Create a video and post on YouTube

Create a video wishing your readers, followers, customers, and patients, a happy and healthy Christmas and thanking them for their support throughout the year.
