- Identify all systems that accept/transmit diagnosis and procedure codes
- Ensure software is validate and capable of handling the new codes. This includes coding, billing, scrubbers (claim editing), denial, audit and department specific (lab, pharmacy, radiology, research, etc).
- Don’t minimize the importance of training
I also recommend that healthcare leaders consider how all of this new data can be used in their planning processes.
