There are many forms of mental illness including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. If you live with a mental illness you know all too well the effect it has on your life. Listed below are a few of the most common types and the challenges they present each day.

Self-Destructive Behavior

People who live with bipolar

or a personality disorder often have difficulty controlling their emotions. And, as a result they have extreme highs and lows with seemingly no middle ground. Those who have these disorders also can engage in dangerous acts such as abusing drugs, alcohol and their body. While under the influence, they often feel relief from the ongoings in their daily lives and their struggle to maintain a sense of purpose and joy.  Because of this type of reckless behavior, they may drive while under the influence and end up getting arrested and needing SR22 insurance in order to drive or they may lose their license completely.

Anxiety Disorder

Everyone will have moments in their lives where they feel anxious. However, living with anxiety on a daily basis can take a toll on your body. This disorder can cause real physical and mental problems. It can cause muscles to ache, heart rate and blood pressure increase, stomach pain, headaches, depression, and panic attacks. People who live with this illness often look for the worst to happen instead of viewing the glass as half full.

Thankfully, there are medications available that can calm them and make life a bit easier. Along with medication, people who have the illness often benefit from therapy as a way to release their feelings and express their worries to another person who remains unbiased. Staying busy with activities that they enjoy doing such as painting or DIY projects will also help to occupy the mind and take their thoughts off negativity.

Depression

Depression can consume you and put you in a bad place that’s hard to escape. People who live with this illness often avoid social activities and have a limited number of friends. Long-term, it can cause many restless nights and even lead to insomnia, it can also make you feel tired all of the time. It’s not uncommon to be irritable and experience short-term memory loss to block out sadness. Depression can also lead to suicidal thoughts, that without a healthy circle of good people around, can result in death. People who live with depression often feel as though they have no self-worth. Finding something that makes them feel good is important to their leading a happy and healthy life, along with the appropriate medication and therapy to get at the root of their underlying issues.
