On May 2, the Emmy-winning syndicated daytime series, THE DOCTORS, will reveal the stunning results of a new surgical procedure that offers hope for those suffering from the deteriorating effects of Parkinson’s disease.
THE DOCTORSwelcomes University of Michigan Neurosurgeon Dr. Parag Patil along with his patient Suzanne, who underwent the new Deep Brain Stimulation surgery after medication no longer worked to control muscles tremors.
As the clip linked below will show, the device implanted during the Deep Brain Stimulation surgery works by electrically stimulating areas of the brain, blocking abnormal nerve signals that cause the tremor in Parkinson’s disease patients.
