The holidays are a fun and exciting time, but they can also be rather draining on your health. One of the biggest reasons is that they can be stressful. One 2018 study showed that 88% of Americans feel stress around the holidays. Before the new year begins, get your health, wellness, and beauty routines back on track so that you can start fresh!

Take a look at these top 10 health and beauty tips to begin your journey.

1. Make a Plan & Get Organized

The new year is all about setting goals and fresh starts. Making a plan and getting organized in all aspects of your life is a great way to get back on track for the new year. Reflect on the past year and incorporate anything you want to change in a plan. Also, think about things you need to set yourself up for success. Organize your calendar and your physical space. You would be surprised how much clutter and a jumbled calendar can affect your mental health.

2. Opt for a Mocktail

Holidays are often accompanied by cocktails. Though delicious and fun, overindulging in alcohol frequently is a recipe for increased inflammation, digestive issues, fatigue, and dull, tired skin. To get back on track with your health and beauty in the new year, consider opting for a mocktail instead of a cocktail for a bit. This will give you time to reset and feel your best. There are a lot of great reasons to cut back on alcohol.

3. Mobile IV Therapy

In addition to all of the cocktails around the holidays, there is also decadent food. The combination means that you are not getting the proper hydration and vitamins from your diet. Mobile IV therapy is a service that provides intravenous hydration and a boost of essential vitamins that can be easily absorbed by the body.

“IV hydration restores the body to optimal levels of hydration, electrolytes, and vitamins which improves skin, digestion, mental clarity, energy levels, and overall health.”

Vanessa Cabrera of Las Vegas Mobile IV Therapy

Start the new year feeling your best using IV hydration to give you a headstart on your health and wellness.

4. Reset Your Digestion

Speaking of all the holiday food and drink, you’ve likely been experiencing digestive issues. Though cocktails and meals full of fats and sugar taste great, they cause things like stomach upset, heartburn, and bloating. To get your gut health back on track in the new year, focus on fiber-rich foods and those containing natural probiotics.

5. Begin a Sleep Routine

Around 70 million American adults don’t get enough sleep, which is an even worse problem during the holidays. Lack of sleep affects your overall health mentally and physically. To get back on track in the new year with proper amounts of sleep, implement a bedtime routine. Avoid electronics at least an hour before bed, ensure your space is calming using low lighting or aromatherapy, and follow a strict sleep schedule even on the weekends.

6. Switch to All-Natural Skincare

Give your skincare routine an update in the new year and your skin may look great by spring. Get smooth, clear, glowing skin from head to toe by switching to all-natural skincare products. Goat milk soap is a top choice as it cleanses and nourishes skin without any irritants. Even individuals with highly-sensitive skin and skin conditions swear by it.

7. Incorporate Light Exercise

It seems like everyone wants to get fit in the new year. However, many people end up going strong for the first few weeks and then continue living a sedentary lifestyle. The secret is to start by incorporating light exercise and work up towards more strenuous activities once the routine is well-established. Light exercise can include things like walking, weekend bike rides, yoga, stretching, gardening, swimming, or similar activities. Just adding some gentle movement to your day will improve your health.

8. Schedule Your Physical & Dental Cleaning

Scheduling appointments for your annual physical and regular dental cleanings can help you get on track for the new year and ensure nothing slips under the radar. Call and make all of your preventative and health maintenance appointments for the year. Write them in your calendar and then you won’t have to worry about keeping up with that aspect of maintaining your health.

9. Revive Your Hair

The holidays are packed with events that require extra hair products, heat tools, and more all of which damage your hair. Get back your strong, shiny, healthy hair in the new year by using a clarifying shampoo, a deep conditioning treatment, and a scalp reviver. This will strip any product build-up, repair heat damage, and promote new hair growth.

10. Address Mental Health

To start the new year off right, it’s important to be in a good headspace. After the excitement of the holidays is over, it is easy to fall into a rut or the post-holiday blues. Prioritize your mental health by taking time to reflect on the past year and engage in your favorite self-care activities. Journal, meditate, reminisce– process the whirlwind that the holiday season creates.

Getting your health and wellness back on track for the new year is essential to have a strong foundation for what’s to come. Consider acting on a few (or all!) of these ten health and beauty tips, so that you are refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for whatever the next year has in store for you.
