Urodynamix Technologies is a medical devices company that has developed a technological platform utilizing near infrared spectroscopy to develop non-invasive diagnostic instruments for urologic conditions. Near infrared spectroscopy uses a specific, characteristic light source (near infrared light wavelength) that can identify molecules when it is shone on a subject since some light is absorbed by molecules, and the remaining is reflected back. When used in the urinary tract the light returned provides physicians with diagnostic information regarding bladder physiology and is indicated for use in detecting bladder outlet obstruction. This technology is easier, faster, and more comfortable for patients than conventional urodynamic studies including invasive catheter-based tests. Conventional diagnostic tests utilized by urologists are invasive and present a significant amount of discomfort for patients, particularly urethra catheter-based tests.
