No one ever likes to feel under the weather. You may struggle to perform everyday tasks, have to take time off work, and just aren’t yourself. While you may never be able to fully prevent yourself from getting sick, you might be able to boost your immune system to allow your body to fend off as many illnesses as possible. If you’re wondering how to do this, some of these ideas below may be helpful.

Contents
  • Take Supplements
  • Get Enough Sleep
  • Eat Plenty of Leafy Greens
  • Stay Active
  • Practice Good Hygiene

Take Supplements

Supplements like lypo-spheric vitamin C can give your body the much-needed boost it needs to fight off illnesses. Liposomal vitamin C contains antioxidants that help protect your body from oxidative stress and free radicals. They may also be able to help you maintain a healthy immune system to fend off illnesses and support healthy aging. Vitamin C is essential for body tissue repair, iron absorption, wound healing, and general maintenance of your teeth, bones, and cartilage.

Get Enough Sleep

You may never always have perfect sleeping habits, but it may help to maintain a healthy sleep schedule at least most of the time. Studies show that your body needs that time to rebuild your muscles and remove toxins from your brain. Another study also showed that poorer sleep efficiency and a shorter sleep duration before exposure to a rhinovirus were associated with lower resistance to illness. Aim for seven to nine hours per night to give your body the time it needs to repair itself and protect you.

Eat Plenty of Leafy Greens

When you lead a busy lifestyle, it’s often easier to grab a pizza for dinner than it is to prepare a well-balanced family meal. However, your immune system may just depend on you loading a few extra salad greens onto your plate. Leafy greens like spinach, bok choy, and cabbage are rich in vitamins and minerals, the very things your body needs to support a healthy immune system. Even kale is worth your attention, especially since it’s one of the most nutrient-rich vegetables.

Stay Active

We are often encouraged to exercise so that we can stay fit and lose weight. However, some other surprising benefits of exercise also come to the fore. Exercise can speed up the circulation of white blood cells, which your body uses to fight diseases like the common cold. Staying active can also reduce stress and help combat inflammation.

Practice Good Hygiene

One of the easiest ways to fight off germs, bacteria, and viruses is to prevent them from becoming a problem in the first place. Practice good hygiene by washing your hands regularly for 20 seconds with warm soapy water. Shower daily, cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze, and always wash your hands before eating or preparing food. These small things may make a world of difference to how often you get sick.

Fighting off illness doesn’t have to be a complicated, life-changing process. Instead, it can be simple changes that benefit your immune system and overall health. Consider introducing supplements in your diet, and don’t forget about the importance of good hygiene, exercise, a healthy diet, and plenty of sleep.
