An accident is one of the worst things that anyone can experience. When accidents occur, they often come with damage and injuries. There are many kinds of accidents that one can be involved in. Below are some of the common injuries that one can sustain from a car accident.

Contents
1. Head Injuries2. Whiplash3. Cuts and Scrapes4. Internal Bleeding5. Broken or Fractured Bones6. Financial Suffering

1. Head Injuries

When a car accident occurs, the head is usually at a greater risk of suffering injuries. This is perhaps due to inertia; the force that causes the head to move forward when the car comes to a sudden halt. The impact may go as far as causing brain injuries, which can be very traumatic. They may not be recognized easily unless one loses consciousness, which may necessitate a brain scan. The effects of head injuries are long-term, which makes them one of the worst injuries one can get when in a car accident.

2. Whiplash

This is a name used to refer to muscle ligament and tendon injuries. When you are involved in a car accident, your body tends to move faster than normal. This is a reflexive response that you have no control over. That sudden movement causes strain in body muscles and other tissues in the body. While you might mistake it for a fracture because of the pain it causes, it does not involve broken bones.

3. Cuts and Scrapes

During an accident, the car comes to a sudden halt either because brakes were applied suddenly or the car crashes into a barrier. At that moment, you may receive cuts due to the impact. You could also sustain cuts or scratches from a loose projectile in the car. They are very painful, and being open wounds, they are prone to infections if not treated as soon as possible.

4. Internal Bleeding

One of the reasons to seek medical attention immediately following an accident regardless of whether there is an open wound is because internal injuries could have been sustained. If internal bleeding is not treated in time, it could lead to various medical complications or even death.

5. Broken or Fractured Bones

Several forces in action cause a car accident. Your body is not used to the magnitude of such force. When your bones can’t take it, they tend to break. This is a very painful experience. Most accidents will leave the victims with broken bones, especially the ribs and other fragile bones.

6. Financial Suffering

After an accident, the victim may suffer intensely from a financial perspective. The costs of treatment after an accident can be alarmingly high. Depending on the severity of the injuries, the victim may also not be able to work or earn an income. This is why according to the legal advisors at Tario & Associates, it is crucial to talk to a personal injury lawyer as soon as you’re involved in a car crash. They will help you get the compensation you deserve from insurance companies even if it has to go to court.

Nobody ever knows what will happen next once they are seated in a car. From drivers to passengers and even pedestrians, a car accident could occur to anyone no matter how careful they are while on the road. What is important is to know what to expect and what you should do if this kind of tragedy befalls you. The above are just a few common car crash injuries you should know about.
