Finding the right skin care routine has always been significant for almost everyone, but it has also always been difficult. Creams, ointments, face masks and peeling treatments are only a few of the techniques used for getting the healthy, perfect-looking skin that everyone wants. All of those techniques sometimes work and sometimes they don’t. It depends on the specific issue people are trying to resolve, but also on the quality of the products used.

There are some products that will definitely always work and that has to do with the ingredients found inside. One of the ingredients that you should look for is called Hibiscus sabdariffa, and it is known for its healing properties. Simply put, it is known for its ability to keep your skin healthy and beautiful, while also repairing any damages that might have occurred.

Also known as Roselle, this plant has long been used for many different purposes. From being put in food and beverages, to being used as a means of treating high blood pressure, hibiscus sabdariffa definitely has a lot of health benefits. Luckily, people have recognized its skin benefits as well, which is why it has now become one of the most sought for ingredients in care products.

Everyone knows that natural, plant ingredients are good for us, but not a lot of people know what it is they bring to the table exactly. Let us not let that happen with this particular plant. You need to know why it is good for you and once you find that out, I am sure that you will want to incorporate it in your skin care routine.

It Boosts Collagen Production

When people start talking about skin, it’s only a matter of time before collagen gets mentioned. Even if you aren’t an expert on the topic, hearing this word so many times has probably created a positive association in your brain. In other words, even if you don’t know what collagen is and why it is important, which you can find out if you click here, you do know that it is significant for your skin.

Hibiscus sabdariffa is rich in vitamin C. Thanks to that, applying it on your face or your body encourages your body to produce more collagen in a natural way. Apart from enhancing the natural production of collagen, this plant also slows down its degradation, which helps keep your skin firm, strong and smooth.

It Prevents Elastin Breakdown

Even though collagen is most talked about, it wouldn’t be very wise to neglect other important proteins. Elastin, for example, is responsible for keeping your skin tight. Over years, it starts being broken down by an enzyme called elastase. That process leads to loose and saggy skin and nobody looks forward to that.

Hibiscus sabdariffa helps decrease the activity of the above mentioned enzyme and prevents elastin breakdown. That way, it prevents the appearance of wrinkles, while also promoting tightness and smoothness. This is the ingredient that helps you keep that young look even after a certain age, which is why many people are calling it “the natural Botox”.

It Is Used For Exfoliation

This plant is a source of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), which are used in a variety of products. AHAs have the ability to remove dead skin cells and encourage the production of new cells. This means that hibiscus sabdariffa is great for exfoliation and it leads to fresh and smooth-looking skin. Evidence suggests that it can also help reduce hyperpigmentation in the process.

It Heals Wounds

Research has shown that this plant can be of great help when it comes to wounds that need to be healed. By increasing the production of fibronectin it helps speed up the process of wounds closing. In addition to that, it has shown to be highly beneficial in hydration, as well as regeneration.

All of that makes it a helpful healing product. It’s important not to expect the plant to work miracles on severe cuts and burns. Although it has proved to be effective in healing wounds, you should always consult a doctor if you have some serious skin damage.
