Poor skincare regimens can lead to skin cancer and a host of other health issues that can be very serious. Unfortunately, we don’t always know what those skin problems will be until we take the time to learn more about them.

One of the health issues that has been raised has been the safety and health concerns raised by Botox. You may wonder how Botox impacts your body. Fortunately, you shouldn’t be worried about any health problems with Botox, as long as you use it correctly. Not only is Botox generally safe, it also has a lot of great health benefits as well.

Understanding the Health Issues and Questions Associated with Botox

If you have ever thought of getting Botox, you likely have a few questions you want answered before you proceed with the process. In this post, we’ll answer all your most pressing questions and tell you all you need to know about Botox.

Is It Safe?

Yes, Botox is completely safe when administered by a professional health care provider. Botox is approved by the Food and Drug Association (FDA) and has been used to treat neurologic and ophthalmologic conditions for more than two decades. Side effects of receiving Botox injectables are also extremely rare.

If you still have concerns about the safety of Botox treatments, be sure to book a consultation with your healthcare provider. They will be able to answer any additional questions you may have and put your mind at ease.

Does It Hurt?

The answer to this varies person to person. Everybody has a different threshold for pain and therefore has a different experience when it comes to getting injectables. Many people report feeling no pain at all. This is likely because Botox needles are so small that they aren’t capable of inflicting severe sensation.

People who do report feeling pain usually experience a slight stinging as the needle is inserted. However, the vast majority of Botox patients say that the results are well worth any short-lived discomfort.

How Long Does Botox Last?

Much like the previous question, the answer to this query depends on the patient. Typically, Botox injections last roughly three to four months, but some people – especially first-timers – notice shorter efficacy, closer to two months. On the other hand, others may notice the effects last for a longer period, closer to six months. The longevity of results are as unique as the clients themselves.

Is Botox Only Suitable for Cosmetic Purposes?

While Botox is most widely known for its aesthetic-enhancing properties, it actually has several medical uses. Botox can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Temperomandibular joint disorder (TMD) and facial pain
  • Migraines and other headaches
  • Teeth clenching
  • Orthodontics
  • Incontinence (in women)
  • Excess saliva production
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Gummy smile

How Much Does Botox Cost?

The cost of Botox depends on a number of factors, such as how many units you get, how many areas you treat, the area in which you live, and how seasoned your practitioner is.

However, according to Healthline, you can expect to spend somewhere between $325 and $600 for a single Botox treatment. Botox is priced per unit and units usually cost between $9 and $15 apiece. If you just get your forehead done (roughly 20 units), you’re looking at roughly $200 to $300. If you get your forehead and glabellar lines (lines between the eyebrows) done, you could be looking at up to $800 in terms of cost.

I’m Only in My 20s – Am I Too Young for Botox?

There is no particular age at which you are prohibited from getting Botox for cosmetic purposes (as long as you are over the age of 18). Botox is actually growing more popular among young people, who are using it for preventative reasons. Preventative Botox helps avoid the development and deepening of fine lines and wrinkles.

When it comes to any medical procedure, knowledge is power. By taking the time to learn more about Botox, you’re ensuring that you feel at ease when the day of your appointment rolls around.

You Don’t Have to Worry About Health Risks with Botox

Botox is a very common skin treatment for wrinkles, as well as more serious medical issues. You don’t have to worry about it, as long as you use it properly. It can even be beneficial for certain health issues.
