Eyes are the most attractive and noticeable feature of any person. Spending a few bucks to make them look flawless is always worth it. I had been planning to get my eyebrows microbladed for years, but I just couldn’t get my mind around it. I was going through the same situation you are in. Browsing different blogs and articles to make sure I was making the right decision. But after going through the procedure, I recommend it to anybody I come in contact with! If you still can’t make a decision, let me make it easier for you. Microblading is the best possible solution if you don’t want to spend hours doing makeup and making your eyebrows look even. However, if you still have any reservations, let me explain to you what Microblading is and tips you need to keep in mind if you make the life-changing decision to go for it.

What is Microblading? Is it Tattooing?

Microblading, which is highly advertised as a tattooing technique, is more like a semi-permanent makeup that is used to create an illusion of fuller eyebrows. A trained technician carefully draws strokes on your eyebrows and builds textures that resemble and integrate into your existing eyebrows. A microblade is used to make cuts into the skin in the area surrounding your eyebrows where a pigment is inserted. This process requires very high skills, and you should be careful to choose someone who has a license to carry out the procedure like microblading specialist Lisandra Rodriguez from The Brow Effect. Since microblading is considered an art, choosing the best in the business should be your foremost priority as he will be handling one of the most intimate areas of your body.

Benefits of Microblading

  • Microblading lasts for about 18 months, so it gives a very long-lasting result. However, you can still do a few touch-ups during this period if you want to give a more refined look to your eyebrows from time to time.
  • It is very beneficial for people who have lost their brows due to a hair fall illness or going through medical treatment such as chemotherapy.
  • The procedure is very safe and does not necessarily require any follow-up treatment, so you don’t need to expend a lot of time from your schedule.
  • Microblading is completely waterproof after the pigment settles in, so you won’t have to spend every second worrying about it.
  • If you get your eyebrows done from a reputable clinic, no one would be able to spot that you have had your brows treated.

Microblading Pre-Care Tips

  • Avoid alcohol or anything with caffeine 24 hours before going for the procedure. Alcohol and caffeine make the blood thin and increases bruising, making the process a lot trickier for the technician.
  • If you are taking any fish oil tablets, Vitamin C, E or flaxseed oil, you should stop taking them 3-4 days before the procedure.
  • Microblading is a more straightforward process on drier skin so you should keep a check on your water intake during the days leading up to the procedure and avoid using a moisturizer on your brow area a couple of days before it.
  • You should also avoid tanning and being in the sun too much a week before the appointment and after the procedure.
  • For a better look; you should not touch, pluck, wax, or thread your eyebrows before the appointment and leave as much natural hair as possible.
  • Carefully select the pigment for your eyebrow. Just like a foundation, they come in a lot of colors. For a more natural look, select light shades over darker ones as they give off a very artificial look.

Microblading Post-Care Tips

  • Remember when I said that the microblading pigments are waterproof? Well, you still have to be careful for a few days after the procedure. Avoid taking long showers or any activity that involves excessive sweating. Make sure that your eyebrows stay dry so that the pigments can settle in.
  • If you want to apply a cream on the area, let it air dry first. Avoid using sponges near the area. Don’t scratch or scab the dry skin. Allow it to fall naturally.
  • You can apply Vaseline around it, but any sunscreen product should be avoided to prevent fading.
  • If you think the pigment color is too dark, you can apply retinol cream and remove some pigment from the area.
  • Treat your brows like a wound for a week. Take care of them and allow them to heal so that they look more natural and perfect.

Results

For the first few days, your eyebrows will appear darker and bolder, but over time as the pigment settles in and the healing process is completed; they will look more natural. The healing process takes about a week, so you must be patient as perfection requires sacrifice!
