Types of Workflow

Workflows are defined on various types based on their requirements in the current world scenario. So let’s take a look at them!

Process workflow:

Process workflows are generally used for repetitive jobs that are usually predictable and are followed by employees. This helps in simplifying the positions of the employees on a daily basis delivering accurate results. These include- vacation approvals, invoice approvals, and even employee’s onboarding process.

Case workflow:

Case workflows have a distinctive nature and may differ from cases to case. They can be great for tracking cash flow trends.

These do not follow a predictable or a sequential path. These are mainly used to solve a problem as and when it arises. This may include cases like- an IT help-desk ticket raising or settling an insurance claim. In such cases, either human intervention or bot investigations work for a more straightforward solution.

Project workflow:

Project workflows are best for individual projects that work around mobile entities such as stakeholders. One effective tool for managing these workflows is an efficient Gantt chart as it provides a visual representation of project tasks, timelines, and dependencies, making them essential for planning and tracking project progress. Even though such projects are structured in their path system, but hold on to the flexibility needs. Even though such workflows can be designed and structured in advance but contain enough room for further modifications, these include website designing and launching projects. It is important to have a great project management app to help your team stay organized.

Basic components of a well-defined work flow

A workflow management system is outlined under three essential components. These are the pillars of the system that helps in carrying every process from the beginning to the end.

These include-

Input:

The resource or the raw materials that help in initiating the workflow process refers to the input for a workflow. Without this, such a system cannot be formed. These include all kinds of raw data.

Transformation:

This component refers to the direction or the rule to be followed as per the input received for further processing.

Output:

The final component of the workflow refers to the output of the transformation in the form of deliverable or product. This is the most vital function in a workflow.
