What are Snoring Mouthpieces?

How They WorkDifferences Between Snoring MouthpiecesMouth Guard for Mouth When You SnoreAnti-Snoring BracesSnoring MouthpieceTypes of DevicesConclusion

Mouthpieces for snorers, simply put, are devices that are placed in the mouth to prevent snoring at night. There are a few different types of these mouthpieces, and they are all used slightly differently. If you or someone you know has a problem with snorers, you might want to investigate these devices.

These devices are available after talking with your doctor and your dentist. If you are looking for a snoring mouthpiece for better sleep, you should first talk with your doctor. He will then speak with your dentist to find the perfect mouthpiece for you. Between the two of them, they can find you a mouthpiece that will help you to not snore.

How They Work

There are many reasons that this can happen, one being that your tongue drops to the back of your throat and causes you to snore. If this is the reason for your snoring, one of these mouthpieces will help you out. The mouthpiece will put a slight tension on your lower jaw and pull it forward. When this happens, the muscles of your tongue and the tissues in your lower jaw are put into tension, as well. This keeps the airway clear, and you will not snore.

Differences Between Snoring Mouthpieces

A few different types of mouthpieces are available to choose from which you could use to prevent snoring. There is a mouth guard for snorers, anti-snore braces that are also used for mouth snorers, and a snoring mouthpiece. This article will talk a little about each of these.

Mouth Guard for Mouth When You Snore

This mouth guard, also called a snore mouth guard, mouth shield, or oral vestibular plate, is different than the snoring mouthpiece, this one prevents you from snoring with your mouth open while you are sleeping. It prevents the soft tissue from the back of your throat and mouth from vibrating. This is a great device to prevent snorers.

It looks very similar to mouthpieces worn by boxers and other athletes, except that it is not as bulky and is very slim. It is comfortable to wear and will not bother you while you are sleeping. It is also large enough so that you will not swallow it while sleeping. It is placed in your mouth between your lips and teeth. It will fit loosely around the row of teeth of the upper jaw. It allows you to freely move your lower jaw.

Anti-Snoring Braces

The anti-snoring braces are designed similarly to a bow with a silicone-coated and stainless-steel loop. This piece is pressed through the mouth into the palate area of your mouth. It puts the palatal arch into a slight arch. It is used for mouth snorers or when you are sleeping in any position with your mouth closed. This device cannot be used for tongue snorers, there are other devices for that.

Snoring Mouthpiece

This is also called a mandibular advancement device and is one of the most common mouthpieces. This prevents your tongue base from falling to the back of your throat when you sleep on your back: https://somnishop.co.uk/what-you-should-know-before-buying-a-snoring-mouthpiece/. If you did not have this device, it might block your airway, or at least obstruct it. This device helps to stop tongue snoring.

These devices are also used for receding chins and overbites but are mostly used to curb snorers. These devices must fit snugly since they have to maintain the tension of the mandible continuously. When it is used correctly, snoring will not be an issue.

Types of Devices

Monobloc – A monobloc mouthpiece is made of just one piece, connected at the back. Because they are made so simply, they are also extremely easy to use. This is best for people who are using a mouthpiece for the first time because it helps them to get used to the device.

The biggest disadvantage of this type of device is that it has no flexibility. Once it has been fitted into your mouth, it can no longer be calibrated. This is not a problem for most people, but some people need to have it recalibrated after a while.

Bibloc – This type of device has two pieces that are connected with a flexible elastic band. The joint can be unfixed and fixed time and time again. This makes this device more flexible and easier to use because each part can be calibrated individually.

Each person that uses this device can maintain the exact right alignment to the jaw so that maximum relief from snoring can be achieved.

Conclusion

You can use devices for your mouth to help prevent snoring. They are found to be very useful for those who have used them. The snorers and their family and friends can get more sleep if the snorer uses one of these devices.
