While more people are concerned about their health and wellness, statistical research has shown that obesity rates are not declining as much as they should. People are exercising more to try and get the excess weight off, but still not reaching their health goals. Although there could be a combination of reasons as to why this is happening, there are some things that those struggling with obesity can do to improve their chances of obtaining a healthier weight.

1. Invest in a Personal Trainer

Accountability can sometimes make it easier for you to accomplish your health and fitness goals. When you’re going to the gym on your own or exercising at your house, it can be easy not to push yourself to the limits to see real improvements. However, there are gyms that offer personal trainers to assist you. For instance, Fitness19 personal trainers are there to assist participants of all ages. With specialized goals and assistance in the gym, you can get to where you need to be.

2. Watch What You Eat

Exercising is only part of the equation when it comes to losing weight and being healthy. You also have to consider what type of “fuel” you’re giving your body to get through each day. Many of the foods consumed today are processed and packed with loads of things that can do more harm than good to the body. While some would assume that only means things like fast food dining, it actually includes a whole host of foods including canned goods, lunch meats, and microwaveable meals. To try and combat obesity, it is ideal that you start incorporating organic fruits and vegetables in your diet. While you can still eat meats, it is important to try to a stick to lean meats only and minimize the about of red meats you eat. This, coupled with exercise, should help you in losing more weight.

3. Portion Control

As you start to incorporate better foods into your diet, it is important that you also need to watch how much you’re eating. Too much of anything is not good for you and can have an adverse effect on your health and weight. Portion control is another technique that can be used to help you stay on track with your weight loss goals. By consuming smaller portions of food you’re still providing your body with the fuel it needs without overdoing it. Recommended serving sizes include: 1 medium fruit which equates to half a cup chopped, cooked, or a half cup of fruit juice. You should consume about 3 ounces of cooked lean meat or nuts, and a half cup of cooked dry beans. 1 cup of leafy green vegetables and ½ cup of other vegetables. It is true that exercising alone won’t help you to combat obesity and get back to living a more fulfilled life, but a combination of techniques will certainly help increase your chances. Doing these things on a consistent basis will most certainly help you to lose the weight and keep it all. It is equally as important to make sure that you’re visiting your doctor on a regular basis to talk about progress and other things you might be able to do to lose weight and stay on the right track for healthier living.
