Also, you want to make sure they keep and/or create important massage documents. This includes things like SOAP notes and other documents that can assist them in providing you a personalized experience and keep track of health records. These will help them quickly be able to remember or learn your issues, wants, and needs, and come up with the best way to help.

Choose the Right Type of Massage

Next, you need to know the kind of massage you want to get. There are several different types of massage, each which will help in a different way. Some will be more about relaxation and stress-relief, while others will be about reducing pain and/or restoring movement. While some therapists will be experienced in different types of massage, many others will only have one.

So the type of massage you are getting will dictate the therapist you choose. Your massage of choice will depend on your goals or needs. Once you have chosen the type or style of massage you’re looking for, you can begin to look for individuals or companies who specialize in that area. Of course, there will also be a pre-massage consultation where you can get into the specifics about your issue and how you would like the massage to go.

Ask About the Costs

While the cost of the massage isn’t the most important thing, it is certainly a consideration to make. Massages are incredible and worth the money for some, but there is no doubt they can be expensive. They can often be well over $75 for a single, hour-long massage. This is a lot for many people, so be sure to ask about the price before making an appointment.

Some nearby cities might have more affordable options, so be sure to look around and try to find a better deal. Also, some massage therapists will have hidden fees or charge a lot for extra services like hot stones, aromatherapy, or other things. So be upfront and ask about the full cost of the massage, so there are no surprises.

Health Insurance and Massage Therapy

Your health insurance with work might cover a portion of a massage, but it is important to find out how much, as well. Massages are supposed to be relaxing, but it can be hard to relax if you know you’re paying far too much for the service.
