If you can’t fix or get rid of back pain from the spinal cord area, I guess this is the next best solution with managing it and offers something other than drug treatment. The implanted devices looks very similar to a pacemaker and has lead wires. The outside unit has a 5 year battery and a charging unit comes along with the system. The remote control is a little more complex than one you use with your TV of course but it’s a remote that you can carry with you and we all have something to carry these days it seems. Many health plans and insurers cover the device but as usual prior approval is needed the site states. The product also has a “test drive” solution you can try ahead of time with an outside stimulating device so that way you can be a little more positive about making a decision about having the permanent implant. As I understand from reading here, the stimulation is turned off and on as needed, and they recommend not driving when the unit is operating. If one has a pacemaker this may not be a pain solution and the website has lot more information. BD

Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) today announced U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and U.S. launch of the Clik™ Anchor for its Precision Plus™ Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) System, the world’s first rechargeable SCS device for chronic pain management. The Clik Anchor features an innovative locking system designed to improve lead anchoring speed and consistency. Locking into place on the lead with a simple turn of a hex wrench, it provides tactile and audible confirmation for physicians that the lead is secured. The Company is introducing the Clik Anchor at the American Academy of Pain Medicine Annual Meeting, which begins today in Washington, D.C. Boston Scientific’s Precision Plus SCS System, powered by SmoothWave™ Technology, masks pain signals by delivering independently controlled pulses of electricity through SCS leads. Anchors are designed to secure leads and minimize unwanted migration. “With approval and launch of the Clik Anchor, we have added six new products to our Neuromodulation portfolio in the past year,” said Michael Onuscheck, Senior Vice President and President of Boston Scientific’s Neuromodulation Division, a leader in microelectronic implantable technologies used to treat chronic neuropathic pain. “The Clik Anchor complements our SCS percutaneous leads portfolio, and gives physicians the most comprehensive array of lead options in the market.”
