If you have trouble sleeping, look into getting a Beddit sleep tracker (as soon as one is available, that is!).  Beddit is a Finnish start-up that is developing a consumer version of their current professional sleep tracker device used by healthcare professionals for the past 20 months.

Beddit fits under your sheets and tracks the stages of your sleep, your heart rate, respiration, snoring, movements and sleep environment.  Please read the full post on Beddit here.

Beddit has had a very successful launch so far.  I asked the CEO, Lasse Leppakorpi, for an interview to find out how the company reached its crowd-funding goal in record time and what Lasse thought of the crowd-funding experience and launch of the product in general.

It seems as though Beddit did a lot of things right.  Lasse had a solid background in biomedical engineering and a solid business plan.  He had been working on a similar product and had gained experience with the technology.  He won an award for his initial work, which earned him access to mentoring and early stage funding.  He built a professional version of the product which he then tested with the help of an expert research physician.  Seeing the possibility for a consumer version, he developed a prototype and opted to go the crowd-funding route on Indiegogo.
