How Ebola Spreads, and the Response from Public Health Officials

We may not hear much about it in the daily news cycle, but the Ebola epidemic that has plagued Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia certainly isn’t over. According to the World Health Organization, more than 20,000 people have been infected. Of those, 10,000 have succumbed to the disease.

Still, that hasn’t stopped these West African nations from taking steps towards controlling this especially deadly pandemic. They are working to strengthen their health systems to be better equipped to handle future outbreaks such as Ebola.
