Twitter is no stranger to healthcare. It’s been used in healthcare communications for everything from live tweeting brain surgery to getting alerts from health-related government agencies.

healthcare marketing and Twitter featuresLike other social media platforms, Twitter is evolving and becoming even more user friendly. Here are two new Twitter features that a healthcare facility can use to improve marketing efforts.

Twitter now lets users upload videos directly from mobile devices.  In just a few steps, users can capture and edit video using the phone’s camera and upload it straight to their timelines. Upon successful upload, the whole video appears right on the timeline; it’s no longer a link.

Another notable aspect of Twitter videos is length. Videos on Twitter can last up to 30 seconds. In comparison, the popular video app Vine only allows for 6-second videos while Instagram’s videos are limited to 15 seconds.

This amount of new video “real estate” can tell a much bigger story in the advanced healthcare world. You can create a video of one of your doctors speaking or produce a detailed video of operating room technology – there’s a lot of marketing potential. The feature is now available on Twitter’s iPhone app and should be coming to the Android app in the near future.

Quick Promote

For the first time, Twitter is giving users the ability to promote a tweet directly from the Twitter Analytics Dashboard. Users can now take popular tweets and boost them to a larger audience for a short period of time – even on a small budget.

Similar to Facebook’s Boosted Post feature, this new Quick Promote feature is a great tool for a healthcare facility to advertise special occasions.  Events such as a wellness fair or blood drive can be promoted to targeted users for just a few dollars.

Twitter is definitely changing the way we communicate. To leverage these new social media marketing features, contact Wax Custom Communications at 305-350-5700 or visit waxcom.com.
