You will hear directly from entrepreneurs who are building (and have built) successful healthcare companies in our city as well as those who finance innovation through venture capital and corporate business development. Panelists will provide an insider’s view of the benefits and challenges of starting a company in NYC from funding to space to recruiting and beyond.

This high-powered panel will be moderated by Martin Vogelbaum, a partner of Rho Ventures. Speakers include:

  • Cyrus Massoumi, CEO of ZocDoc, founded in 2007 to help patients find doctors and dentists and book appointments online. In just four years ZocDoc has grown into a force in the online scheduling world and has been featured on NBC, CNN, Fox and the NY Times. Crain’s New York Business voted ZocDoc #1 in their Best Places to Work roundup for 2010. The company is backed by Khosla Ventures, The Founders Fund, Bezos Expeditions and Marc Benioff.
  • Sundeep Bhan, CEO of Medivo, a start-up focused on bringing personalized medicine into practice in the areas of preventive and therapeutic care. Sundeep is not new to the world of entrepreneurship. Prior to Medivo, he co-founded and led Medsite (also based in NYC), a leader in online pharmaceutical marketing and services, which was backed by JP Morgan Partners, Morgan Stanley, Bain, and Reuters. Medsite was acquired by WebMD in the fall of 2006.
  • Frank DeBernardis, a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Nascent Enterprises LLC., a medical device venture advisory firm. He serves as an expert panel member of the Columbia University Science and Technology Ventures Group and looks for opportunities to commercialize technology for University of Pennsylvania and Purdue University. He has been recognized by Inc. Magazine as its Entrepreneur of the Year and has over 30 years experience in the medical device industry.
  • David Feygin, Ph.D., World-Wide Director of Strategic Innovation for the Beckton Dickinson (BD) – Medical Surgical Systems business unit, where he is responsible for identifying, developing and validating individual opportunities and overall growth strategies.
