Everyone experiences stress and anxiety at one point or another. For some, stress can be an integral part of everyday life. Chronically stressed individuals have high levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) in their system, which is linked to an increased risk of depression and can suppress your immune system. This is why it’s important to manage your stress and take some time for yourself.

Here are 3 ways to take away the stress of a long day. The following tips could help you alleviate the symptoms of everyday stress and make you feel more relaxed.

Take a Magnesium Bath

Magnesium plays a pivotal role in the body’s stress response, so if you’re constantly stressed your magnesium levels are going to deplete. This means it’s highly important to replenish your body’s supply. One great way to do this is by taking a bath with magnesium flakes. Magnesium flakes can absorb into your skin and have a vast range of benefits for your body, including stress relief.

Taking a warm bath is a great method of relaxation, especially after a long day at work. But combining magnesium flakes with a hot bath is the ultimate way to relax and unwind in the evening. If you have difficulty falling asleep at night then having a bath can help relax your muscles and calm your mind, making falling asleep a lot easier. It’s also a great way to switch off and take a break from devices to give yourself a digital detox.

Try Meditation

Practising mindfulness through meditation brings you into the current moment which is effective in reducing stress and anxiety. Making the time to meditate during stressful periods is a known effective method in reducing the stress of everyday life.

After a long day, try sitting down and practising meditation for a few minutes. You may find that you feel more at ease and peaceful after. For a long term effect, try meditating for 5 minutes every morning and see if it makes a difference to your stress levels. You will hopefully find that symptoms of stress and anxiety are relieved throughout the day.

Take a Walk Outside

One of the best ways to reduce stress is to do some form of exercise. Exercise releases endorphins that make you feel good and banish stress away! ‘Forest Bathing’ – taking a walk outside surrounded by nature – is proven to improve mental and physical health.

After work, take the time to go on a short walk to the park, you may find it lifts your mood and makes you feel much calmer and at ease throughout the evening. Doing this regularly could help you manage stress long term.
