There is no question that technology is becoming more and more popular as time goes on, it is definitely becoming an unavoidable part of our daily lives. Although, it is true that the advancements in technology affect all of us, teenagers are still the major targets as far as selling technology goes.

Teens say that second to clothing a cell phone tells the most about their social status. Now if a teen lives in a family that doesn’t have a lot of money how does this affect them? According to a girl senior “I just got a phone and before that I felt like I was always disconnected from everyone.” 47% of U.S. teens say their social life would end or be worsened without their cell phone.

According to another interview with a Zeeland West junior he says he spends about 13 to 14 hours awake during a day and about 10 to 12 hours texting or talking on the phone. This is a mind blowing high in fact 47% of teens text with their eyes closed.  He also says “I spend another 3 to 4 hours a day playing video games or watching TV.” This same person says the listen to their I pod and play games almost all day.”

I also interviewed the parent to three teenagers and he says that on an average he spends over 400 dollars a month on his total technology expenses. “ I spend about 60 dollars on internet, at least 300 dollars on our phone plan, and over 60 dollars on our cable every month.” This is kind of high but it is still crazy that people are spending so much money on technology.
