We all know about superfoods that supposedly improve our health, such as kale and eggs. Improving your diet is, of course, always beneficial to your health. However, there is nothing wrong with a little extra help to get on the right track. Supplements are very popular methods of getting your metabolism, immune system, and so much more on a healthier track. There are lots of different supplements out there that all claim to have varying benefits, from boosting your metabolism, to relieving anxiety, to helping hair grow. But how do you know what supplements are best? Here is a short list of some supplements that have been proven to help improve health.

  1. Haritaki

Haritaki is a relatively unknown supplement, but one that provides numerous benefits. According to the breakdown on haritaki.org, the benefits of taking this as a supplement are plentiful for both the brain and the body. Some of the health benefits include cleansing the digestive tract, aiding in memory, cleansing infections, anti-aging properties, and more. One small superfood can pack a pretty heavy punch in terms of benefits. As with any supplement, discuss with your doctor, but it could be a massive help.

  1. Fish Oil

Fish oil is a supplement you hear about a lot. Many people recommend eating more fish, but not everyone is a seafood fan. If you can tolerate a momentary fishy taste, this is a great health aid. It?s full of omega-3 fatty acids, which can keep blood pressure low, maintain safe triglyceride levels, and support heart function. It?s also been proven to help reduce inflammation throughout the body, so your immune system can focus on other things.

  1. Vitamin D

We get some vitamin D from sun exposure, especially in the summer. We receive vitamin D after about only 15-20 minutes in the sun. However, for those who don?t spend time outside, or are struggling to get natural vitamin D during the winter months, it?s still important to keep these levels up. This particular vitamin supports strong bones and musculature, making your body stronger and feel healthier overall. If you?re really outdoorsy, you may not need vitamin D supplements, but seeing as the vitamin is essential for human life, it?s important to monitor.

  1. Probiotics

As gross or as uncomfortable as it makes us feel, digestive health is incredibly important to our overall well being, and we often forget about it. Probiotics are supplements that promote the nourishment of the ?good? bacteria inside us that helps keep our digestive system running smoothly. They can prevent a lot of gas, bloating, and inflammation in the right amounts.

  1. Fiber

Fiber is vastly important to cardiac health. Cardiac arrests and heart disease are some of the leading killers in the United States alone, so keeping your heart healthy is key. Fiber cleans out plaque build up from the arteries and clears out cholesterol. It?s also another component that helps with digestive health and has even been found to decrease the risk of colon cancer. There are many different ways to use a fiber supplement, including simply sprinkling some on your food.

  1. Coenzyme Q10

This coenzyme is produced naturally and manages your energy supply. As you age, production decreases; in order to maintain healthy energy levels, a supplement of Q10 is needed. This is believed to fight cancer, Parkinson?s and Huntington?s, and can even help thin the blood to prevent heart disease. It?s also full of antioxidants, which can slow the physical signs of aging. How to Choose the Right Supplement? In most cases, talking to your doctor before beginning a supplement is a good idea. Still, it?s good to know beforehand about what types of supplements you are interested in and how exactly they can benefit you. Some ?supplements? do nothing at all, so make sure you do your research to get you back on the healthy track!
