According to a recent study, patients want their doctors to reach out to them proactively even when they aren’t sick. The study revealed that they want their physician to communicate with them to help keep them healthy.

According to a recent study, patients want their doctors to reach out to them proactively even when they aren’t sick. The study revealed that they want their physician to communicate with them to help keep them healthy. doctors-texting

The survey, which included 1,001 adults 18 and older throughout the U.S., showed that 70 percent of respondents say their physician never checks on them when they aren’t sick. It found that 80 percent of the respondents wanted to be contacted by their doctor via text message, email and proactive push notification smartphone alerts.

The message is clear: Today’s healthcare providers now need to provide innovative ways to focus on proactive care and patient wellness rather then just acute, necessary care.

By providing important texts, emails and other technology notifications with health tips (such as new ways to eat healthy), reminders (such as getting a flu shot or screening) and encouragements (such as getting to the gym) are all interactive, personal ways doctors can show they care about their patients all the time.

In the age of smartphones, physicians need to keep their digital consumers informed.
