AI technology has possibly become the single most impactful technology of the 21st Century. One major market research institution found that 55% of businesses use AI in some capacity.

The healthcare industry is among those most affected by these recent breakthroughs. While there are a lot of benefits of using AI in healthcare, there are some downsides as well. Some healthcare providers may unwittingly make some major mistakes by relying too heavily on AI, which can threaten patient health and lead to poorer outcomes.

This illustrates the need to use AI detection tools in healthcare. Healthcare providers can find out whether AI is used so they can take the right steps to protect their business models. Fortunately, AI detectors can detect content made with any of the nine major LLMs, so they will be very helpful for preserving the integrity of the healthcare system.

AI is a Double-Edged Sword in Healthcare

AI is starting to have a huge impact on healthcare. Many surgeons are starting to use AI to assist with their procedures. Some research shows that AI-powered surgeries can reduce the length of hospital stays by 20%. An estimated 90% of hospitals are expected to use AI for early diagnoses this year.

However, there are some downsides of using AI in healthcare. One poll found that 57% of Americans are worried that AI will negatively impact the relationships between patients and their doctors.

Healthcare providers and patients need to recognize the negative effects of AI, as well as the benefits. The most important thing is for them to be aware when AI is used in healthcare in the first place, so they can make informed decisions about it.

AI Detection Technology is Vital for Delivering Safe, Quality Healthcare Services

As AI becomes more widely integrated in the healthcare industry, it is going to be more important for patients and healthcare providers to recognize when it is playing a role. They will need to use AI detectors to make informed decisions.

What is an AI detector? It is a programmer designed to tell if content was designed with AI. It is trained on lots of documents that were generated with AI, as well as many made by humans. A text-based AI detector learns to tell the difference between the two based on different patterns that show up in AI content that are not shown in human writing. Image and video AI detectors work in a similar way. They look for pixel anomalies and EXIF metadata that show up in visual media made with AI that is not present in that created by people.

Here are some reasons why AI detectors are going to be crucial as AI becomes more widely used in healthcare.

Patients Can Verify They are Talking to a Real Doctor

We are seeing a growing number of deepfake videos hitting the Internet. A number of scammers are using deepfakes to impersonate company CEOs and other trusted people. However, some unscrupulous people may also use them to impersonate doctors through telehealth services.

This can be a serious problem for patients trying to rely on qualified healthcare professionals. They could be tricked into taking bad medical advice.

Fortunately, there are video AI detection tools that can help identify deepfake videos. This will help people avoid falling for these types of scams.

Authenticate Medical Records

Some patient medical records may have also been altered with AI. This is a huge problem for a variety of reasons. Records modified with AI may omit details about patient allergies, fail to accurately account for medical diagnoses or suggest patients are in need of the wrong procedures.

This is one of the most important reasons that healthcare professionals need to use AI detectors. They can authenticate medical records more easily, so patients get the right care.

Weed Out Healthcare Professionals with Falsified Credentials

Credential fraud is sadly a lot more common in the healthcare industry than most people think. One major nursing news site reported a scandal where 7,600 fake nursing diplomas were discovered as part of a credential scheme. Many of these people were able to use their fake diplomas to take nursing boards and get licensed to become nurses.

These types of problems are going to become more common as people can start using AI to fabricate credentials to get jobs in healthcare. The ramifications for this can obviously be terrifying.

AI detectors can help healthcare providers verify that the credentials were not made with AI. This can help them make sure only qualified professionals get hired.

More Healthcare Providers Will Use AI Detectors to Ensure Quality Healthcare in Years to Come

AI technology has clearly changed the state of the healthcare industry. While there are a lot of benefits, it also creates some risks. More healthcare professionals will use AI detectors to ensure patients receive higher quality care.
