The world of healthcare can be a very serious and delicate topic for discussion.

Sharing positive messages with your audiences is fine and dandy, but your competition is probably doing the same.

Don’t get lost in the crowd. One “out-of-the-box” idea to make your facility stand out is the use of humor. People love laughing – it makes them feel good. If you can infuse humor into your messaging, you’ll definitely get people’s attention.

Here are a few ways to leverage the power of humor:

  • If you work with children or have a children’s facility, create a mascot for the business. Then, place that mascot in funny situations and share that content on social media. For example: Have your bulldog mascot eat too much candy around Halloween and get a bellyache. Viewers will get a chuckle out of it, and you can create a call-to-action that points them to a landing page about holiday nutrition.
  • Does your healthcare facility deal with vision or eye care? Create a campaign around a cartoon of someone walking into a wall. Then, develop a CTA that encourages individuals with poor eyesight to call your phone number or visit your website.

Although there might be concerns about your facility appearing unprofessional, give humor a try and evaluate the reaction you receive. With the web and social media, it’s easy to gauge reactions quickly and accurately. Just make sure to have a back-up plan in case you do get a negative response.

Humor isn’t appropriate in every situation. But in certain cases, it may give your healthcare facility the boost it needs to get new patients through the door. For additional tips on topics like these, call Wax Custom Communications at 305-350-5700 or visit waxcom.com.
