Building external links back to your website or blog is a great way to help with your organic search engine optimization (SEO) or increase rankings in search engines.

One way to do this is with blogging about current events and posting that content on external websites including your social media channels.

That’s why it’s good to create a content calendar and prepare blogs and responses early to events that are bound to happen.

For a healthcare related website, one example may be creating content on the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. Many websites will commemorate the date with grieving type messages. While those messages are always powerful and meaningful everyone else is saying the same thing.

In contrast you can focus on the positive and talk about how the first responders and hospitals in Boston were able to save so many lives.

This type of content and commenting could also include how your facility treats injuries similar to the ones that people experienced during the bombing.

This message with the right tact and timing may be a great way for your facility to utilize a current event to garner attention and potentially bring in new patients.
