Your body functions with the help of oxygen and lungs play a decisive role in it, so it is very important for you to follow a healthy routine to keep your lungs healthy too. By including certain activities in your daily routine, you shall be able to maintain proper health and care of your lungs and stay away from the unwarranted disease of lung cancer.

Incorporating healthy food habits in your daily routine helps you fight many unwanted diseases. Why not experiment with your diet to prevent the threat of lung cancer as well? Studies have shown that regular intake of healthy fruits and vegetables lower the risk of developing harmful cells of lung cancer. You don’t have to go an extra mile for this particular activity.

Simply experiment with your daily fruits and vegetable shopping and develop the habit to buy green spinach, white onions, red tomatoes, and apples, so on and forth. 6 Reasons That You Need To Make Your Health a Top Priority

Exercise to Breathe Harder

Doing exercise on a daily basis brings holistic improvements to your body in general, and lungs in particular. A person’s breathing increases from about 15 times per minute to about 50 – 60 times per minute when you exercise rigorously. Different types of cardio exercises such as aerobics prove to be the best workout for your lungs. When you breathe hard, your muscles tend to contract and expand between your ribs that lead your lungs to pass oxygen quickly in place of carbon dioxide, leading to better efficiency in their functioning mechanism. Following a similar pattern of exercising daily helps you to resist ailments related to lungs such as lung cancer and aging-related diseases as well.

Enjoy a Cup of Green Tea

Quitting smoking is one of the sure-shot ways to prevent the danger of coming face-to-face with lung cancer. In addition to this, you can include the benefits of drinking green tea in your daily routine, as against the usual tea or coffee. Loaded with healthy nutrients and antioxidants, green tea improves brain function, reduces your unwanted fat, and lowers the risk of lung cancer. It has been seen that those people who drink green tea regularly tend to become healthier and fitter in comparison to those who do not.

Be Wary of Supplements

Don’t be misguided by the advertisements that showcase nutritional supplements to be a great choice to lower your chances of lung cancer. Many studies and researches have shown that consuming these supplements in larger quantities increases the palpable risk of getting disposed to lung cancer disease. Taking supplements such as vitamin E, beta-carotene, retinol, and lutein can prove to have a harmful effect on your lungs. Consult your doctor prior to choosing such supplements and calculate the risks well before incorporating them in your daily dietary habits.

Stay Hydrated

It is known to everyone that almost 60% of the human body is composed of water. This makes it necessary to ingest as much of liquid fluids as you can to enable your body organs to stay hydrated and function properly. Lungs are no exception in this case. By keeping your body well hydrated, you prevent the chances of getting attacked by any lung-related disease in a fine way.

Researchers have shown that drinking plenty of water (minimum 8 cups a day) reduces the risks of lung cancer. Try to make a habit of drinking water after you perform an activity, such as finished a phone call, ordered a pizza and so on, that enables you to include the habit of drinking water in your daily routine smoothly.

Reduce Your Intake of Alcohol

There are certain alcoholic beverages that are dangerous for your health and act as a catalyst for lung cancer if you consume it on a regular basis. Heavy intake of beer and hard liquor increases the chances of lung cancer in men. In its place, you can try wine and other soft drinks that don’t affect your lungs in the same harmful way, when consumed in a controlled manner. You must keep this in mind that drinking alcohol on a wider scale can prove to be as destructive as smoking cigarettes. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages as much as you can to reduce the risks of getting prone to lung cancer.

Avoid Smoking or Stop Smoking

Among the many dangers of smoking cigarettes, one is that they are a root cause for lung cancer all across the world. Almost 80% to 90% of patients that are diagnosed with lung cancer happen to be chain smokers. Smoking cigarettes are also related to many other lung-related diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. It is still not late for you to stop your smoking habits if you are an addicted smoker. Use various available alternatives to smoking to help yourself kicking this bad habit and prevent the dangers of lung cancer and other problematic diseases.

Joining a Breathing Club

There are breathing clubs across the country that work as support groups to help people fight against the lung and breathing problems. By participating in such groups, you get the right encouragement and motivation that empowers you to stay healthy, fit, and lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Final Thoughts

If you follow these eight habits religiously in your daily routine, chances are that you can lower your risk of lung cancer. With showing little dedication every day towards following a healthy routine, we are sure that your lungs would stay guarded against the unwanted disease of lung cancer.
