Healthcare reform is now less of a preoccupation as healthcare payers, providers and consumers digest the ramifications of the U.S. Presidential election and that the main tenants for the Affordable Care Act will become a reality.

Healthcare reform is now less of a preoccupation as healthcare payers, providers and consumers digest the ramifications of the U.S. Presidential election and that the main tenants for the Affordable Care Act will become a reality.

Enabling this reality will call for continued innovation and solutions for best-in-class companies who understand how to capture, analyze, share and store health data about patients, members and consumers.  In recent years, TripleTree has been fortunate to work with some of the best innovators in healthcare through our iAward program; and given that our nominating process for the 2013 iAwards opened last week, a quick update on recent news from our most recent finalists makes sense.

As we’ve previously opined on these pages, the convergence of information technology and life sciences, coupled with ubiquitous connectivity, is revolutionizing the way healthcare is accessed and delivered.

A new generation of companies is harnessing information and communication technologies not only to improve care, but also to help people stay well.  Great organizations like the WLSA are linking thought leaders and spurring partnerships – and in a post reform world we’ll likely see new healthcare business models like Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) lead the way.

Let us know what you think.
