Rhinoplasty, popularly known as nose shaping or nose job, is the most common type of plastic surgery, in which about 220,000 nose job surgeries are done annually. On the surface, some people think rhinoplasty is purely for aesthetic purposes since it can make one’s nose look better. But the thing is, rhinoplasty offers more benefits beyond having to do with your appearance.

Rhinoplasty: What Is It?

Nose Surgery or Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery type that aims to modify your nose’s size, shape, width, and profile. The shape of your nostrils, nose tip, and overall balance of your nose can be altered through this type of plastic surgery.

Generally, there are two types of rhinoplasties. The first one is called “cosmetic rhinoplasty.” This is when your rhinoplasty is done for aesthetic reasons (e.g., to enhance the overall appearance of your nose). Meanwhile, if the surgery addresses or resolves a structural issue, it’s termed “functional rhinoplasty.” Ultimately, the surgeries have the same procedures with the reason or intention of the surgery as the only difference.

How Can Rhinoplasty Improve Your General Health And Well-being?

If you’re concerned about your nose’s current appearance or dealing with nose-related health issues, getting a rhinoplasty could be for you. But for those skeptical about getting rhinoplasty, here are a few ways that rhinoplasty can positively improve your health and well-being:

Is the Healthcare Industry Prepared for Human Immortality?

1.      Treat deviated septum

Around 80% of Americans are born with displaced or off-center septums. With a deviated septum, you’ll have difficulty enjoying physical activities as you’ll quickly feel breathless. You also tend to experience frequent breathing problems.

Deviated septum isn’t only a condition that develops when a baby is in the womb. It can also happen to people who have been in an accident that caused their nasal septum to be dislocated. Thus, if you’ve been injured or have been in an accident that causes your nose to flatten and dislocate your nasal septum, it’s recommended that you get rhinoplasty.

Getting rhinoplasty can effectively correct your deviated septum, enhance your breathing, and promote your general health. The surgeon will adjust the nasal structure to help your nose have a better alignment.

2.      Improve sinus problems

Sinus problems and irritations like nasal congestion, headaches, and sinus pressure can adversely affect your lifestyle due to the pain and discomfort they bring. Rhinoplasty can help improve your nose health and minimize these sinus problems. By altering the structure of your nostrils, it’ll open your nasal airways better, improve your breathing, and reduce the risk of more sinus problems in the future.

3.      Rectify a broken nose

Out of all types of facial fractures, nasal fracture, also known as a broken nose, is the most frequent type of facial injury, occurring in 40% to 50% of cases. Nasal fractures can happen due to an accident, sports injury, and other similar trauma. A broken nose involves having broken or cracked cartilage or nasal bones. When not fixed immediately, you could suffer from swelling, nosebleeds, bruising, and severe breathing problems. Rhinoplasty can help rectify this problem and relieve the pain from this traumatic injury.

4.     Improve snoring

Most people assume that snoring is normal and must simply be accepted. Unfortunately, snoring is associated with a sleep disorder, namely, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). When left unresolved, long-term, chronic snoring can boost your risk of stroke, cardiac arrest, and other health problems.

One effective way to improve your health and minimize snoring is getting rhinoplasty. Some people snore when they’re born with a deviated septum, which causes mouth breathing and results in snoring. Getting nose surgery can correct this condition permanently and fix your snoring problem.

5.      Enhance sleep quality

When you’re having breathing problems due to snoring, sinus problems, or a flat nose, your sleep quality could be adversely affected, including your entire well-being. Getting a nose job can resolve these issues and help you achieve a better night’s sleep.

6.      Boost your self-confidence

Out of all the cosmetic surgical procedures, nose reshaping or rhinoplasty is considered the most popular, with over 350,000 surgeries reported in 2019. And among the common reasons people get rhinoplasty is to boost their self-confidence and help them feel better about themselves. This is true, especially for people with insecurities surrounding their nose structure.

Whether you have a pinched, drooping, or bulbous nose tip, rhinoplasty can quickly fix that to balance your nasal features and create a more pleasing and symmetrical appearance. You can also get rhinoplasty if you wish to adjust the size of your nostrils or balance the proportions of your nose base and bridge. Regardless of how you want to change your nose, rhinoplasty can improve your physical appearance, which in turn boosts your confidence and improve your emotional health.

Key Takeaway

Overall, rhinoplasty isn’t only beneficial in improving your physical appearance. This type of plastic surgery can also address numerous health problems, promoting your overall health and wellness. But remember, to get the best results out of your rhinoplasty, don’t forget to hire the best and most qualified facial surgeon and make it an incredibly beneficial surgery.
