Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the global health infrastructure has been crumbling under pressure, and current lab strategies are inadequate to meet the increased demands. This website explains the need to streamline IT practices, increase automation, and standardize operating processes to improve lab testing worldwide. Here are the five ways to improve lab testing strategies in 2022.

Contents
  • 1. Use Advanced IT Practices
  • 2. Set Priorities in Capital Spending
  • 3. Revamping the WorkFlow
  • 4. Enhance Testing Quality
  • 5. Effective Contract Management

1. Use Advanced IT Practices

Rapid adoption of IT goes a long way in reducing human errors during lab testing. According to the Medical Laboratory Observer’s State of the Industry Survey, 60% of surveyed organizations are increasingly making use of IT practices to improve their operation and capacity. By integrating IT intelligence with medical equipment, labs can ensure accurate patient records by analyzing various data points. The point of care (POC) testing devices can be directly connected to electronic health records (EHR) to collect data automatically.

2. Set Priorities in Capital Spending

Accurate lab testing is crucial for the effective diagnosis of patients’ conditions, but that doesn’t mean you should invest in the most expensive devices. Approach lab investment strategically. Invest in cost-effective equipment that enhances workflows and outcomes and saves you time and money. By focusing on the right technology stack, it becomes easier for practices to reduce patient wait time and shorten the time needed to produce results.

3. Revamping the WorkFlow

Many testing laboratories do not follow a standardized workflow process for all their employees. In the absence of a proper strategy or standards to follow, confusion can frequently lead to issues. As a result, there is a need for comprehensive employee training, whether new or existing. Make sure your lab has proper internal documentation and SOPs to handle day-to-day events and emergencies such as a global pandemic. This is particularly effective in managing and expediting the workflow.

4. Enhance Testing Quality

Testing quality is crucial to diagnose patient health status fast. For this, some labs use advanced temperature monitoring procedures. A standardized approach for ordering formulations ensures that the required quality of tests is maintained across the board. You should make sure the tests you send are backed by credible research. In an age where medical practices are under intense scrutiny from the public eye, properly communicating the standards and establishing trust is a good way to create a competitive edge in the market.

5. Effective Contract Management

Effective contract management is one of the best ways to enforce compliance, increase efficiency and ensure long-term collaboration with the right vendor. To start, you can purchase your orders in bulk, saving costs long-term. Secondly, you can build stable relationships with your vendor by signing a long-term contract. By thinking of the future prospects, your vendors can provide proper guidance to use the products and services, in addition to streamlined contract terms and specialized offers.

The demand for advanced lab testing strategies will only increase with each passing day. With the above-mentioned techniques, you can ensure quality, error-free, and advanced diagnosis results. These strategies will also help you adopt predictive analysis models and better monitor the health status of the communities.
