San Rafael's Farmer's Market

I am a Fitbit fan, but I somehow I quit wearing my old one about 5 months ago.  At TEDMED, a couple of weeks ago, I got a new one (thanks, guys).  I have been wearing it faithfully since.  And, no question, it has made me think about how much I move and how much I weigh.  That’s the point, right?

I am a Fitbit fan, but I somehow I quit wearing my old one about 5 months ago.  At TEDMED, a couple of weeks ago, I got a new one (thanks, guys).  I have been wearing it faithfully since.  And, no question, it has made me think about how much I move and how much I weigh.  That’s the point, right?

But last night, I couldn’t sleep.  Don’t  know why, but I tossed and turned all night – seeing 1, 2, 3, 4 am on my cell phone – before drowsing off between 4 and 7:30 – not enough sleep for my 8 hour sleep brain.

So, when I got up in the am, I took a pass on my daily walk with husband and dog, going up into the office to answer emails instead.  But my sleep deprivation made me carb hungry, so I had one and then another cheese enchilada purchased from yesterday’s glorious San Rafael farmer’s market.  By noon, I am feeling super groggy, but craving carbs once again (a known side effect of sleep deprivation).  Despite this, I didn’t need to finish off the Thai green curry chicken and rice leftovers, but I did.

I promised myself that I would take the poochieroo, Sherman the Big Black Lab, out for a walk at the end of the day, but I headed up to the comfy bed San Rafael's Farmer's Marketfor a late afternoon nap instead.  I couldn’t sleep though, it was too hot.  So, eventually I went downstairs to cook dinner – carb and cheese laden of course.  Jeez…..sleep deprivation is a weight loss bummer.

So, after watching a healthy eating advocate on NPR I thought, I really should check my Fitbit….OMG, only 1199 steps…after a whole day awake.  Yesterday, I walked 24,000 steps and climbed 30 flights of stairs….but yesterday was Sunday and I had 3-4 hours to burn (pun intended) on exercise.

What to do? An 1199 day after a carbo-frenzy is sure to increase my weight. a pound or two.  There is only one thing to do, take a deep breaeth, rewind the clock (and the Fitbit) and remember that  tomorrow is another day.
