Marijuana is now legal in a growing number of states for both medical and recreational use. This has led to the development of a variety of marijuana products, including edibles, tinctures, and concentrates, as well as many different consumption devices such as those Daily High Club offers here. Each of these products has its unique properties and benefits, so it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you. But with the right information and guidance from professionals, you can easily choose your favorite device among many. But why has marijuana become one of the most popular substances in the United States? This is likely because this plant provides a large number of health benefits including the ability to reduce anxiety and relieve pain. Additionally, cannabis is not an addictive substance and it does not carry any negative side effects as pharmaceutical drugs do.

Although marijuana is popular, it remains illegal in many states, despite this setback in progress, more people are becoming awakened to the benefits of this plant and are calling for it to become legalized. You may have heard of a few benefits of marijuana however if you are curious to learn more, here are some benefits offered by this natural healing herb.

Two most active ingredients

Before we get into the benefits, we must look at the active ingredients that make up marijuana. There are 2 ingredients that are the most active which are THC and CBD. THC is the most known of the 2 active ingredients because it is the component responsible for the psychoactive effects that are felt when cannabis is consumed. Apart from the mind-altering effects, THC does have some health benefits which include pain relief, increasing appetite, and inducing sleep. CBD on the other hand is fast taking up the spotlight. This active ingredient does not induce any psychoactive effects however, it does have a long list of health benefits that can be received when consuming this ingredient. CBD induces a significant amount of alterations in the brain activity and connectivity patterns of consumers which is affected during a resting state and the performance of cognitive tasks.

Relief from pain

One of the most common uses of medical marijuana is to relieve pain. Many people consume CBD to relieve pain however, THC is a very effective pain reliever as well and pain is more effectively relieved when these two active ingredients are consumed together. Pain is relieved when THC interacts with your body’s natural cannabinoid receptors which in turn reduces pain signaling and pain perception. Research has concluded that there is enough evidence to suggest that cannabis is an effective pain treatment and CBD can effectively reduce inflammation as well as pain.

Relief from symptoms of MS

Multiple sclerosis causes a wide variety of symptoms including vision loss, pain, fatigue, muscle spasms, and impaired coordination to name a few. Many people who suffer from this disease have accepted a life of pharmaceutical medication as a treatment however, marijuana can be used to effectively treat these symptoms. In 2014, a survey was conducted on patients with Multiple sclerosis where cannabis was used to help with the symptoms. The participants of the survey reported that cannabis helps with muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain which can be attributed to the many cannabinoids in cannabis, especially CBD.

Anxiety and depression reduction.

Instead of using chemical drugs to treat mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, cannabis can be used with no negative side effects. Cannabis calms the body and induces a state of relaxation which is helpful for those with anxiety. Cannabis also releases dopamine and regulates mood which helps fight depression. Existing preclinical evidence supports the use of CBD for generalized anxiety.

Increased appetite

If you are part of the cannabis community, you have surely heard of the term “munchies” before. If you have not, this term refers to the strong desire to eat a lot of food after consuming cannabis. It does this when THC binds with the cannabinoid receptor type 1 which promotes overeating. This can benefit those suffering from eating disorders or HIV- associated wasting syndrome. Research suggests that regular cannabis consumption can promote weight gain.

Slows the growth of tumors

For those who have cancer, cannabis extracts can be used to slow the growth of cancerous tumors when administered with radiotherapy treatment. THC and CBD were both tested as part of research on the treatment of tumors associated with brain cancer and it was revealed that THC can be effectively used to reduce tumor growth in patients with cancer. More research also suggests that a combination of THC and CBD can not only slow the growth but altogether kill growing cancer cells.
