Denise Silber: Hello Erik and Erich, tell us about your year since Doctors 2.0 & You 2012.

doctors 2.0 and you winning start upErich Taubert: Doctors 2.0 really was a marvelous experience. We had just launched iP-Voiding diary at SXSW in Austin. Receiving the credits and opportunity in Doctors 2.0 & You gave us the spin we needed. After Paris we worked on several ideas that now are the basis of our business. Our focus narrowed down to personal and mobile health services. Communication between healthcare professionals and patients will become more mobile in the near future. We started to get involved in the innovative medical community, giving lectures and workshops and became recognized as a knowledge centre for mobile medical services. iP-Voiding diary became the first CE certified medical app in the Netherlands, setting an example for medical app quality in general and winning the best medical app award in 2012.

ET: Winning Doctors 2.0 gave us the podium at this highly appreciated conference and we were delighted to be there with you, Denise. Being involved in Medicine X was a blast. We were last and opened with the unmentionables. The audience, already used to loads of self measuring systems, was still surprised when we confronted them with registering pee and pooh. We understand why Doctors 2.0 & You and Medicine X are partners. They kept, as Doctors 2.0 & You does, the promise of bringing together the like-minded and this atmosphere still motivates us.

DS: What is new since then?

ET: We created several apps and are in the process of launching more. A beautiful example is a mobile platform called Heyeway(.com) where ophtalmologists organize and share slitlamp pictures. A completely in-house production is physiotherapy. Patients can select exercises wih their physiotherapist to take home and practice.

DS: I hear you have big plans for an announcement at Doctors 2.0 & You on June 6-7?

ET: We are currently engaged in developing something ‘up close and personal’ in the medical app community. In the next months it will be ready for presentation. We want to keep it a bit of a surprise, but here’s a small hint: Imagine that if your health is personal, your medical apps aren’t? Empowering patients to be able to tell their story, helping healthcare professionals in understanding this story, in a safe and secure way. That’s the philosophy of Synappz…
