Q:  (Barbara) How is health care technology changing the landscape of health care today?

A:  (Wasim) The health care industry is undergoing accelerated change to become affordable and sustainable. Affordability is being addressed by employers, government, insurers, care providers, and plan participants.  Efficiency gains are being combined with prevention programs, consumerism, new care models, new insurance models, value based insurance designs, and value based reimbursement. Information technology that helps stakeholders impact health affordability will play a vital role in transforming health care.

Q:  (Barbara) Meaningful Use, Cloud Computing, Telehealth, Implementation of EHRs are a few of the areas to be covered at the Health Tech Today Conference, why was important for you to include Social Media in the mix of health technology?

A:  (Wasim) The role of Social Media is well used and understood by patients engaging online. We have already seen the presence and power of facebook and twitter. This will drive each health care provider to develop its own Social Media presence and communication techniques.
