The Main Consequences

Believe it or not, stress doesn’t translate only to baldness, loss of appetite, and general sadness. Given the right amount, stress can change all aspects of your life:

  • Long-term stress exposure and chronic stress can lead to various personality disorders, depression, as well as anxiety. These are the three most common results of long-term stress. Even if you’re barely stressed right now, you might still feel the anxiety kick in from time to time.
  • On top of that, stress affects the heart as well. It can start slow, with abnormal heart rhythms, increased blood pressure, and can go as high as cardiovascular disease, stroke, heart attacks, and so on.
  • Stress is also the main cause of a variety of eating disorders. Many people cope with stressful situations by eating a lot. Naturally, compulsive eating leads to obesity and a plethora of other mental and health problems.
  • Chronic stress is one of the main causes of sexual dysfunctions in both men and women – among the many, impotence is worth mentioning, as it greatly affects the life of an individual.
  • Speaking of baldness, stress can cause permanent hair loss. Depending on the intensity, it can lead to psoriasis, skin problems, acne, and eczema as well. After all, the tingly feeling all over your body when you get anxious must translate to a visual problem – usually acne, in our case.
  • Some people say that everything that goes through the stomach – including love -, chronic stress may be accompanied by gastrointestinal issues as well. Gastritis, an irritable colon, GERD, or ulcerative colitis are some of the few serious diseases that have been connected directly to long-term stress exposure.

As you can see, stress is not something you should mess around with. It is by far your worst school courtyard enemy and shouldn’t be tackled!

How to Avoid Stress?

Given the advancements in medicine and alternative medicine as well, people can either buy a ton of prescription drugs that relax their body and mind or buy CBD salve stick. Naturally, the former is not recommended, while the latter is considered the modern-age remedy against stress.

If you’re not keen on trying drugs and such, then you should look into breathing exercises as they can do wonders for people that are exposed to stress daily.

The Main Causes of Stress

Usually, people don’t even identify stress or the fact that they suffer from it. They simply notice it after a couple of years of prolonged stress – baldness, wrinkles, and so on -, or even after a couple of months in the form of heat palpitations, for example.

This is because most of us have been thought to deny the existence of stress. When someone’s stressed, their peers simply advise them to chill. Naturally, it’s more than just that and, in order to avoid stress and its effects overall, you have to understand its causes as well.

  • Work – this can contribute in many ways to stress. Even if you adore your work environment, a certain project can take its toll. Moreover, even if you love working overtime (not necessarily for money, but for pleasure), you can still experience stress and anxiety. As they say for most adult beverages, take work with moderation.
  • Overthinking – this is one of the main causes of stress as it’s present in most people out there. Overthinking and obsessive-compulsive disorders are a certain way towards long-term stress exposure. In mild cases, they can be easily solved with some discipline and power of will. However, if you feel the need to control them, then we recommend visiting a psychologist, as they can do wonders when it comes to such issues.
  • Lack of free time – naturally, a lack of free time makes you think about all the things you could’ve done with your potential free time. Usually, you’ll end up overthinking things once again, losing focus over your work, and, overall, not enjoying your week at all. As such, make sure to always leave some time for yourself and avoid saying yes to too many tasks or even responsibilities. Even if you’re at a point in life where you have to work most of the time, do not skip pastime.

The Bottom Line

Long-time stress exposure can pretty much ruin your health. Those extra hours that you spend working every day might round up a nice-looking wage now, but in a couple or twenty years, you’ll wish you left work early and stopped stressing so much about everything!
