Meta: Getting into the routine of certain things when you are in the early stages of pregnancy is a good move to make. Here are 5 things you should try to do.

  • Prenatal Vitamins
  • Drink More Water
  • Stretch Mark Cream
  • Exercise
  • Change Your Chores

Pregnancy will always bring a lot of change to your body which you need to make sure you manage properly. There are some habits that you should try to work into your routine as early as you can when you discover that you are pregnant. Let’s take a look at five of them.

Prenatal Vitamins

You should be making changes to your diet to eliminate some of the foods that you definitely can’t eat while pregnant. However, you should also take a couple of prenatal vitamins on top of your regular diet. Folic acid, calcium and iron are all essential nutrients for pregnancy so you should start taking these vitamins as soon as you can. If this is a planned pregnancy, you could consider taking prenatal vitamins while trying to conceive.

Drink More Water

Most of us do not drink enough water. When pregnant, you will be supplying oxygen and essential nutrients to your baby through the placenta. This means that your blood volume can increase, and with this can come a need to drink more to support the extra activity. Aim for eight to ten glasses a day and be disciplined in ensuring that you get enough to drink.

Stretch Mark Cream

If you are concerned about your stretch marks, you should start using cream as soon as possible. Even when your bump is very small you should get into the habit of applying a stretch mark cream. The more you can moisturize your skin, the better it will retain its elasticity as it stretches. This means that you will hopefully be able to reduce to a minimum the risk of developing stretch marks throughout your pregnancy.

Exercise

Many women cut back seriously on the amount that they exercise when they are pregnant. However, you should try to exercise for roughly 30 minutes every few days to help reduce your stress, improve your circulation, and boost your mood. There could be a pregnancy exercise class near you, or you could decide to try yoga or swimming. Speak to your doctor about what might be right for you.

Change Your Chores

Now is the perfect time for you to change the chores that you undertake around your home. Your partner might have to step up and help out a little more as there will be some things that you simply can’t do. Heavy lifting and climbing high, such as on a ladder, needs to be avoided. You also won’t be able to change litter boxes if you have a cat, and you should try to avoid some of the harsher chemicals you might use to clean your home.

These are five of the changes that you need to get into if you want to have as healthy a pregnancy as possible. Introducing them as soon as you can within your pregnancy is always a good move to make, and it can help to smooth the way a little in later trimesters. Though you might have to make significant changes to your life while pregnant, it will be worth it when your bundle of joy is here.
