Epic Dominates in Number of Meaningful Use Attestations in 2011

The domination of Epic Systems continues according to a Meaningful Use Top 10 report released by the Institute for Health Technology Transformation leading all vendors with almost 28% (6,330) of  Meaningful Use attestations in 2011. The report was compiled by vendor, state, and provider specialty based on the analysis of the most current data sets provided by the following:

  • CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services)
  • Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program attestations with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT
  • Certified Health IT Products List
The report concluded an extensive review of the data by state, provider type, provider specialty, and practice setting with the data set details on almost 23,000 attestations across the U.S.
In the vendor breakdown, Epic outpaced other vendor with the largest market share of attestations with the next closest vendor, eClinicalWorks, representing only 8% of attestations.  See chart below for details:

It is important to note that the final 2011 won’t be available until March 2012, this current preliminary ranking does provide a clear landscape of the vendors progress with meaningful use attestations. 2012 will be a huge year for Meaningful Use with attestations and payments expected to significant outpace 2011′s $2.5 billion the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive program paid to hospitals and physicians.
