Slip and fall accidents are the second leading cause of accidental deaths in the United States. Over 800 people died of slips and falls at work in 2020 and even more died from them outside of work.

You could injure yourself from a slip and fall anywhere: at home, at work, in stores, or in parking lots, to name just a few. A slip and fall could be caused by things like being distracted, bad weather conditions, or negligence.

2.          DON’T Cut Down on Sleep

In order to heal, you need to ensure you do not cut down on the number of hours you sleep each night. The amount of sleep you get directly affects your body’s ability to heal.

Not getting enough shut-eye is a stressor to your body. On the other hand, when you do get enough sleep, which should be between seven and nine hours each night, your injuries can heal quicker. That is because tissue growth and rebuilding, as well as the synthesis of protein and cell division, are aided by sleep.

3.          DO Take it Easy

In addition to getting enough sleep, you should generally take it easy after a slip and fall accident. Your doctor will be able to give you advice about how much activity to do.

You need to take things at a leisurely pace for a while because your body expends a lot of energy when it is trying to repair itself after an injury.

Spend a lot of time on your couch for the first few days or weeks and gradually increase your mobility.

4.          DON’T Forget to Eat Correctly

What you eat has a direct effect on the healing powers of your body, so do not overlook how important eating the right food is after an injury.

For example, if you do not eat healthily or you do not eat enough calories, your body could have to fight off inflammation in a part of your body. In turn, your body would not be focusing as much on sending specific white blood cells to the injury area in order to protect it and combat infection.

Your body will need both collagen and protein to heal, so make sure they are in your diet.
