While cosmetic surgery is becoming more popular, people don’t always know what to look for. There are risks and benefits of cosmetic surgeries. You want to educate yourself about the different options available, so you can make informed decisions.

One of the options that you might want to consider is a PDO thread lift. But what are PDO thread lifts and what benefits do they offer?

Overview of PDO Thread Lifts

If you want to enhance your facial features and overall looks, but do not want to go under the knife, then the minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures are your best allies. These treatments make your skin look youthful without making you suffer the pitfalls of surgeries. One such cosmetic treatment that is very popular in Miami is the PDO Threads. This treatment is the ideal, non-surgical alternative to facelift surgery.

The treatment is primarily done to lift and revitalize drooping skin. The minimally invasive procedure can tighten the skin to make it look more youthful and rejuvenated. Here is everything you need to know about the PDO thread lift, and why you should consider getting it done over surgical procedures like facelift surgery.

What Is PDO Thread Lift?

PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment that uses a dissolvable suture to prevent drooping, and lifts your skin to make it look rejuvenated more naturally. It can be a great way to get firmer skin. Think facelift, but without having to undergo the hassle of the surgery. PDO thread can provide some of the same benefits for a facelift, but for a short period. A biodegradable polyester suture is used for this treatment, which is ideal for revitalizing skin.

There are three types of sutures widely used in thread lift treatment, and PDO is one of them. The other two are prepared from polycaprolactone (PCA) and polylactic acid (PLA). PDO is further classified into three categories, namely PDO mono threads, PDO cog threads, and PDO screw threads. Each of these threads has its own unique set of benefits to offer.

For instance, PDO mono threads are used if you want to rejuvenate your skin through the stimulation of collagen production. Meanwhile, PDO cog threads are used for lifting portions of your face. PDO screw threads, on the other hand, are used to bring back volume to sunken portions of your skin. Which PDO thread could you use? That would depend upon your expectations and wants from the procedure. This treatment can also reduce the wrinkles and fine lines on the face. So, it all depends upon what you ultimately want.

Benefits Of PDO Threading

PDO threading has several benefits to offer, such as;

  • Instant skin lift
  • Stimulation of collagen production
  • Skin texture improvement
  • Cellular renewal
  • Reduction in fine lines
  • Reduction in wrinkles

While the threads from the treatment would dissolve in under 6 months, you would still be able to enjoy some benefits of the treatment due to the augmentation of collagen production from PDO thread. You can expect the effects to stay visible for about 12-24 months. If you want to enhance the results, you could also have some additional treatments done.

Some Other Basics About PDO Thread Lifts

Are they painful?

PDO threads are relatively painless. Before the actual treatment, a local anesthetic would be applied to the target region, due to which the region where the procedure would be done would become numb. While there is little to no pain involved, you might face certain other discomforts, like redness, irritation, or swelling, the degree of these discomforts varies from person to person. But these are mild in nature and should subside soon after the treatment.

Is it permanent?

No, PDO thread lifts are not permanent, but the results of it can last longer than some of the other procedures. You can expect PDO threads to be effective for about a year. After the expiry of this period, you could have another procedure done.

Are PDO treatments safe?

Yes, PDO treatments are safe. In fact, the FDA has given it the green light in terms of safety and efficacy. If that’s not convincing enough, you’d be happy to learn that countless people have had this surgery done already, and apart from minor and temporary issues like mild irritation and redness, hardly any of them reported anything severe. It is a perfect alternative to surgical facelifts. If you want to go for a safe procedure to tighten your sagging skin, then PDO is your go to procedure.

How to know if you’re the right candidate for the treatment?

Not every person is fit to get this procedure done. That said, a lot of people can fit the bill. Here are some conditions for getting a PDO threading done. If you fall in any of these categories, you can schedule an appointment with a clinic and get going.

  • Want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Want to improve the skin laxity
  • Don’t want to undergo surgical procedures
  • Want to enjoy the benefits for a long time
  • Want to improve your overall facial appearance

PDO threads can be applied to multiple areas of your face, such as cheeks, jawlines, eyebrows, crow’s feet, jowls, under-eye area, and even the neck. Thanks to its versatility, it can cater to the needs of a wide range of people. To reap the benefits of the surgery and improve your facial features, you can consider getting PDO threads done.
