Life is not always a bed of roses. Sometimes life throws a curveball at you and you meet up with an unfortunate accident. This could be anything ranging from a car crash to a home fire or any other tragedy that can affect your health and emotions. Since accidents are unpredictable by their very nature, it’s better to have a plan in place beforehand. If you think that it could never happen to you, consider the fact that every year in the United States, 2.3 million people are injured or disabled due to an accident. Accidents take their toll not just on your physical body but on your mental and emotional state as well. Most of all, they take a toll on your finances. When you have an accident, you may not be able to carry on with your regular job and this can be distressing for your financial situation in the future. Getting back on your feet after an accident is absolutely necessary, but you can’t always rely on your own resources. You might need help from experts in the legal and medical fields to ensure you receive justice and proper care. The following are just some of the steps required to get back on your feet after an accident:

  1. Get Legal Help

When you figure in an accident, you have to get legal help. This is required to get the evidence necessary to help establish your case as a victim. Your lawyers will have to examine other photographs and testimonies regarding what happened during the accident and who was at fault. Aside from this vital legal aid, you also need to get help from your attorney to settle any cases you have with your creditors. This is because during your convalescence, you may not have time to pay off creditors. You may also need a lawyer to help you get an accident verification. You also need them to get a credit disability insurance to arrange payment for your bills while you are recovering. Basically, you require some time to work on your finances, recover fully from the unexpected incident, and get back to work.

  1. Learn To Deal With The Basics First And Get Enough Rest

After you have had an accident, your body will need time to recover so give it plenty of rest. Doing too much too soon will only hurt your body and push your muscles to the extreme. Your body may not be able to do certain activities it was previously able to do. Take small steps towards improving your health and body. As an example, you may want to stick to a consistent schedule of light exercises that helps to warm up your body. If your body is hurt and you feel pain, don’t do complicated movements. Stick with the basics such as healthy eating and balanced exercising and your body will gradually improve.

  1. Maintain Your Positivity

Depression can be your number one enemy when you’ve had an accident. You will experience feelings of pain, loss and grief. However, it is important to let your emotions run their course. You have to make an effort to be positive despite the feelings of anxiety and sadness that you feel. It is within your power to change your current state. Exercising can help you get back into a positive mood. Physical movement produces adrenaline that triggers chemical neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, to make you feel happy and good. If your body can allow it, you can opt for running, swimming, dancing or any rhythmic exercises that help you go with the flow.

  1. Eat Right and Eat Healthily

When you meet with an accident, your number one priority is to keep your body fit and healthy. You also have to eat foods that will help your body recover. Eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce pain and inflammation, while eating foods rich in vitamins can help rebuild tissue that has been destroyed during the accident. Eat the right foods at this point because your body needs more energy to heal and help repair itself.

  1. Meditate And Generate A Sense Of Inner Calm

The mind can be frazzled and disoriented when an accident strikes. Still, you have to keep yourself calm on the inside and practice deep breathing and meditation. You also have to organize your environment to please your senses and aid in relaxation. Are there certain scents that soothe you? You can light up some incense or essential oils to help keep you in a meditative state and generate a sense of peace within yourself. When you have feelings of panic or anxiety, use deep breathing exercises to get you back into a normal state. Do not put pressure on yourself to get right back into a normal state after your accident. Remember that healing takes time, and you should allow yourself time to recover. You can use this time of convalescence to reevaluate your life and plan your next move. Final Thoughts: Getting back on your feet after an accident is a difficult process. Nobody wants to be upset by something unexpected, especially when they have other life plans ahead. Take the time to evaluate your life during your recovery process. Allow yourself time to heal and get all the help necessary for you to get back into a normal state quickly and more efficiently.

The ACA has put patients at the center of healthcare services. A patient-centric healthcare approach in this digital era means a revised definition of quality in the physician-patient relationship. When it comes to healthcare services, patients shell out a hefty amount from their pocket and want nothing less than the best. The services in healthcare are no longer limited to just cost as consumers now evaluate quality and experience in the same equation. Research highlights from the 2015 Healthcare Consumer Trends by National Research Corporation states that reputation in healthcare matters more to consumers when choosing a brand than any other industry, e.g. hospitality, retail, airline, etc. The new generation of quality measurements in healthcare require a different mind-set and a different 'toolbox' to handle the hurdles. It’s the need of the hour for healthcare providers and others across the healthcare value chain to adopt the patient-centric approach for surviving in the vast competitive ocean of healthcare services. Patient-centric care is an approach that develops through effective communication, empathy and a positive physician-patient relationship. The primary purpose is to improve patient care outcomes and satisfaction and to reduce patient symptoms and unnecessary costs. It’s a win-win situation for both physicians and patients. While healthcare providers are able to support their patients in becoming more compliant with treatment and management of their conditions/diseases, patients feel more satisfied with the care that they are receiving. PwC’s Health Research Institute’s annual report 2016 states that health systems should keep an eye on the consumer experience as they expand and extend. More partnerships and more caregivers could mean confusion for patients and poor customer experiences. To differentiate their practice among competitors, patient satisfaction can be used as a competitive distinguishing factor. Although patient satisfaction cannot really provide tangible benefits, but an experience that exceeds patient expectations for what a practice/hospital can provide is very important as it creates loyal patients who return for future health needs and refer their family and friends. Happy and satisfied patients are a secret marketing weapon for healthcare providers, whether they are physicians, dentists, physiotherapists or hospitals. Your patients are the new-age digital health decision-makers. In this era of Internet and social media, they now have multichannel access to information related to health. Needless to mention, they have gained new power to make their decisions; whether it’s choosing a healthcare provider or referring a physician to family and friends. By converting your satisfied patients to be your brand advocates, you can capitalize and use their voice as an effective marketing strategy to reach out to many other potential patients. To strive and thrive, in the U.S. many healthcare organizations are applying patient-centric approaches to healthcare. It’s all about what matters to patients, so it makes a lot of sense for the healthcare industry to place patients' healthcare experience at the center of their policies and procedures. The best deliverables are a combination of great communication for a positive physician-patient relationship, disciplined measurement and analysis of patient feedback and commitment to technology innovation – the formula for improving patient engagement and care.
