Allergen is mostly a proteinous substance in certain foods that is responsible for causing an allergic reaction in some individuals. These individuals’ unusual immune system response to this protein is what’s called an allergic reaction.

What Are Some Common Food Sources of Allergen?

Examples of foods that contain allergen include milk, eggs, certain types of fish (e.g. bass, cod, and flounder), and particular seafood options (such as shrimp, crab, and lobster). Other allergen-containing foods are tree nuts (such as pecans, walnuts, and almonds), soybeans, wheat, and peanuts. But aside from food, allergen can also be found in animals, pollen, latex, and mold.

What Are Some of the Symptoms of an Allergy?

An allergic reaction can cause significant discomfort with a range of symptoms such as an itchy, blocked, or runny nose, sneezing, itchy, red, watery eyes, and so on. What’s more, it prevents people from eating certain foods, that they would otherwise very much enjoy indulging in.

Do you have an allergic reaction to a particular food? If so, we’d so much love for you to tell us more about it in the comment section below this post.

How To Eat Any Food without Suffering from an Allergy Thereafter?

Did you know that you don’t have to necessarily stay away from foods that give you allergic reactions? Yes, you read that right, you could indulge in those foods without actually subjecting yourself to their corresponding allergy symptoms. How so? By fighting and destroying or weakening allergen, thereby averting its effects on you. There are many ways to do that, including but not limited to the following:

1. Cook with High Heat

As said above, an allergen is mostly proteinous. Yet, it’s no secret that heat denatures proteins, causing the molecules to break apart or destroy. As such, it’s only natural that cooking foods to which you are allergic, using high heat will “dismantle” allergen. That will lessen or totally eliminate the risk of having an allergic reaction altogether when you consume those foods.

So, next time you’re thinking of ordering a meal kit from Sun basket, don’t let potential allergy issues discourage you. Just order and cook your meal, using high heat and you won’t likely experience an allergy or at least severe symptoms of one after consuming the delicacy. Maybe you’ve never come across this meal delivery service, which is a good alternative to other popular services. If that’s right, why not take a moment to read this incredible review of the service? By doing that, you’ll understand how the company works, know what’s in their different packages, learn about their prices, and know many other important details.

2. Cook with Ingredients That Will Help Fight an Allergy

Many foods out there have allergen-fighting characteristics, including broccoli, tomatoes, ginger, onions, and turmeric. Citrus fruits, apples, seeds, garlic, kiwi, pineapple, and oily fish are also on the list of good allergen fighters. To avoid an allergy, you could cook your recipe, using these foods as ingredients, or at least pair the delicacy with them as side items.

3. Take Antihistamine Supplements Before Taking Any Food That Would Trigger an Allergy

Histamine is the substance in the body that triggers an allergic reaction when one consumes an allergen. Vitamin C supplements serve as effective, natural antihistamines. That’s because vitamin C strengthens the immune system, preventing histamine from taking over. Apart from vitamin C supplements, another good antihistamine supplement is butterbur, which subdues the activity of the substance when an allergen is detected in the body. On top of that are probiotics supplements, which also work to boost the immune system, preventing histamine from taking over.

4. Take Antihistime Medications Before Eating Any Food That Would Cause an Allergy

You could choose medications instead of supplements if you like. There are many different types of drugs out there that will help fight allergies. These drugs have antihistamine effects that prevent an allergic reaction. It would be a good idea to take one of these drugs before eating any food that would lead to an allergy. According to this health website, some of the viable antihistamine drugs available are cetirizine, desloratadine, fexofenadine, loratadine, levocetirizine.

5. Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking plenty of water not only helps detoxify your body by flushing your system, but it also helps thwart allergies by eliminating allergens that may be present in your body as a result of the foods that you eat. Destroying those allergens will avert or, at least, lessen the symptoms of a new allergen. Taking that into account, you should drink at least eight(8-ounces) glasses of water a day, as recommended by experts.

Final Thoughts

Many people keep away from foods that they would otherwise enjoy indulging in because of an allergy. But the good news is that allergies don’t have to prevent you from eating any food because you have the power to overcome them. To consume food that would otherwise trigger an allergy would be affected, take the following measures: Cook the food with high heat, use ingredients that will combat an allergy, and take an antihistamine supplement before eating. Furthermore, drink plenty of water and also take some antihistamine medications if you can. When you implement these tips, it’s very unlikely that you will have an allergy when you consume an allergen. With nothing more to add, good luck with it.
