The Everest Foundation strives toward an important goal – closing the diversity gap between physicians and even patient treatments in an increasingly challenging medical environment. This is one of the most important things to do to improve the quality of service in healthcare.

Dr. Michael Everest and Agata Everest formed The Everest Foundation in 2008 to honor Dr. Edwin A.D. Everest, father of Dr. Michael Everest. The organization’s core concept is straightforward: increasing diversity among physicians and supporting programs and initiatives designed to bring top-level healthcare to patients worldwide.

Supported by academics, businesspeople, and physicians worldwide, the foundation’s sister company Residents Medical, founded by Dr. Michael Everest and Agata Everest, is also a beacon of healthcare worldwide.

Students receive education and integration into a residency program. Many students find difficulties finding the right program in some disciplines, and Residents Medical eliminates the worries and guesswork of students who perform their residency duties to earn their license after graduating from medical school. They also make sure residents are treated properly, which is one of the reasons medical residents are not all underpaid.

In the United States, physicians must earn board certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties to receive their medical license. Ideally, most medical students can find residency opportunities, but some specialties have fewer, often highly competitive openings.

Residents Medical offers expanded residency opportunities and focuses on making these residencies available to under-represented minority students.

Disparities in Medical Treatments

The healthcare industry plays a crucial role in maintaining the well-being of individuals and communities. However, the industry has a significant diversity gap, which can negatively affect the quality of care provided to minority and ethnic communities.

Research has shown that racial and ethnic minorities tend to receive a lower quality of care and experience worse health outcomes than their white counterparts. The lack of diversity in the healthcare workforce is one of the contributing factors to this disparity.

One of the major effects of the diversity gap in the healthcare industry is the lack of cultural competence. Cultural competence refers to the ability of healthcare providers to understand and respond to the cultural and linguistic needs of their patients.

Without a diverse healthcare workforce, providers may not have the necessary knowledge or understanding of cultural differences, which can lead to miscommunication and inadequate care. This is particularly problematic for minority and ethnic communities, who may have unique health concerns and beliefs that require culturally sensitive care.

Another effect of the diversity gap in healthcare is the underrepresentation of minority and ethnic communities in clinical trials and research studies. This can result in a limited understanding of how certain treatments or medications may affect different populations, leading to inadequate care and potential harm.

Additionally, the lack of diversity in leadership and decision-making roles within the healthcare industry can perpetuate systemic biases and prevent the implementation of policies that address health disparities. The Everest Foundation is committed to supporting programs and initiatives to help close the diversity gap and ensure a better future for inclusive healthcare.

How The Everest Foundation Supports Healthcare

Dr. Michael Everest and Agata Everest and their foundation work to support medical students in numerous ways that include promoting medical research for new treatments, providing innovative equipment to schools, teaching hospitals, and clinics, optimizing residency programs to include more areas of specialization and providing direct funding for specific medical, educational initiatives.

Funding for training includes paying for some of the necessities of students, physicians, scientists, teachers, community-minded organizations, and research facilities.

The Everest Scholars Program

The Everest Scholars program is designed to support medical students and graduates worldwide in order to connect them with top medical schools, Teaching Hospitals, and leaders in medicine and science in the United States to earn Rotation, Research, Medical Residency, and Fellowship opportunities that impact the future of medicine.

Cutting-Edge Instruction

Agata Everest is committed to shaping The Everest Foundation into a dynamic force for change along with Dr. Michael Everest. Many of the foundation’s programs focus on cutting-edge medical research, improving healthcare for patients, and empowering minority medical students. The foundation also works on higher education programs and making healthcare more affordable.

The Residents Medical program runs one of the world’s largest and most respected training programs, and it partners with some of the world’s top medical schools.

Through various charitable initiatives, The Everest Foundation strives to relieve suffering in hard-hit countries and communities. The foundation also places its residents in economically depressed areas that need primary medical care.

Ongoing research includes cardiology, internal medicine, oncology, gastrointestinal, obstetrics, pathology, gynecology, psychiatry, neurology, infectious diseases, and reproductive specialties.

The combined resources of the Everest Foundation, Dr. Michael Everest, and Agata Everest also focus on the opioid crisis and developing a proper prescription strategy. Good medical stewardship involves closely monitoring dosage, type of drug, and time limits to prevent addiction and promote healing.

Overall, The Everest Foundation is doing what it can to help ‘be part of the cure’ in every capacity involving the healthcare industry. With the expertise of Dr. Michael Everest and Agata Everest at the helm of the foundation and Residents Medical, they continue to make the world a better place.
